Welcome back returning friends! And a big hello to new readers!
Now for AOL users - your links are at bottom!
==========================================================

1) Peeking thru WINDOWS  "Sorted File Listings"

If you sort your lists, it makes finding what you’re
looking for so much easier!  When working in a window
that contains a group of files, sort them to make finding
the appropriate file(s) a snap!

  I) First, open a file-listing window, such as your
     C: drive under My Computer
II) Then, switch to the Detail View: Click View, Details
      on the menu
III) At the top of each column is a heading – Name. Size,
Type and (date) Modified.  Click on the heading you
wish to sort by – the first time, you’ll find Windows
sorts ascending, the second time you click will sort
      your list descending.

Note: Folders and Files will be grouped and sorted
   independently of each other

2) FANTASTIC FILE FIND!  "ZoneAlarm" [1653 Kb/EXE]

ZoneAlarm is an easy to use, always-on Internet security
utility that is essential for DSL and cable modem users.
It increases security for any computer connected to the
Internet, including dial-up (modem) connections.

If you’re concerned about privacy issues on the Internet,
take ZoneAlarm for a test drive.  ZoneAlarm combines the
safety of a dynamic firewall with total control over your
applications' Internet use. ZoneAlarm protects your
computer against thieves and vandals.

ZoneAlarm also features MailSafe to stop email-borne
Visual Basic Script worms, like the "I Love You" virus.
ZoneAlarm makes ironclad Internet security easy-to-use.

Free for personal use or by non-profit organizations,
small fee for business.  Link below is to ZoneAlarm
homepage.

7) HODGEPODGE - "Someone’s Knockin’ at the Door"

Folks, the Grinch is alive and well out there on the net,
and would love to gain control of your computer.
Potential targets are the files on your hard drives,
which could be modified or deleted.  Or, your
computer could be used to “attack” other computers!

Recent “Denial of Service” attacks were launched
from the computers of innocent victims that were
”hijacked” long before they were used for those
disreputable purposes.

How do they get to you? One way is to use software
that “polls” the ports on your computer, looking for open
doors that might permit access.  When you are online, you
are exposed to these attempts to find vulnerabilities on
your computer.

Should you install a personal firewall on *your* home
computer?  Consider this – during a 10-day trial period
while on the Internet,  ZoneAlarm logged 128 separate
attempts to probe and/or enter my computer!

That was not a typo – 128 times!

Still tabulating the results and trying to track down the source
of these attempts -. ZA will report the originating address,
but frequently it’s a “blank” site when you track it back!

I certainly feel more secure with ZoneAlarm on guard!
