Greetings to all new
readers! Welcome back returning friends!
and for AOL users - your links are at bottom.

1) Peeking thru WINDOWS "Breath of
Refresh Air"
An occasional ill-behaved piece of software, when switching
video modes, might corrupt the display of your Desktop.
Rather than rebooting Windows, try refreshing the screen –
select any icon on your Desktop, then tap the F5 key.

2) FANTASTIC FILE FIND! "Download
Mage” [236 Kb/EXE]
I've been searching for an excellent download
manager since giving Go!Zilla the boot (see the
May 24 issue in the Basement archives for details.)
I've been extremely happy with this week's File Find, the
Download Mage. Download Mage offers:
fast downloading,
downloads multiple files at same time, auto-reconnects and
resumes broken downloads, tests links before downloading,
accepts drag&drop or manual URL inputs, and can disconnect
modem or shut down computer after downloading!
Download Mage does not include and does not display
any advertising, nor will it send user info to anyone!

3) SEEN THESE SITES?
"MicroGallery/Virtual Bubblewrap"
There's another beautiful world most of us never see,
hidden within everyday objects. At the
Molecular
Expressions Photo Gallery you'll find hundreds of
full color photomicrographs (photographs taken
through a microscope) that will leave you breathless.
(Special Treat - Be sure to visit the Silicon Zoo!)

Waste valuable minutes at the Virtual Bubblewrap
page. A perpetual supply of the wrapping
medium
with the satisfying pop! Requires
Macromedia Flash
and sound for full popping enjoyment.

4) EMAIL FUNNIES "Olympic Salute" [1037 Kb/EXE]
Two video clips for the price of one in this week's
Email Funny! Those pursuing excellence
will sometimes
misstep, and these two unfortunates happened to have
their missteps recorded for posterity:

5) The MOUS Hole - "Click-Shift-Click"
While there are many ways to select blocks of text
or cells, there's no way quicker or more adaptable
then the simple "click-shift-click" method.
To select ANY block of text/cells:
I) Position your cursor in front of the
beginning of
your text (or in the left-most top
cell) and CLICK,
II) Hold down your SHIFT key, and
III) Position your cursor behind the end of your text
(or in the right-most bottom cell)
and CLICK.
All text/cells in-between the to "tagged" endpoints
will be selected.

6) THEY SAID IT
"Soap and education are not as sudden as a massacre,
but they are more deadly in the long run."
- Mark Twain

7) HODGEPODGE
The Photo Funny this week comes from Europe, where
they take non-payment of parking tickets VERY seriously,
while our Bizarre feature shows we have more in common
with our feline friends then you may care to know -
