Noises
From The Basement
|
|
|
| Dear
Friends,
Once again, I'm
going with something a bit different this week. While I feel it
imperative to 'carry on', my mind and heart have been far from
the normal business of NFTB. As someone who reads dozens of
newsletters and ezines a day, I know I have felt little desire
for reading material from those that have continued with
business as usual. If you're looking for the typical fare here
this week, my apologies.
I have
appreciated most those publishers that have provided timely,
useful and compelling information on the crisis. So that's what
we have today. This week you'll find lots of links, all with the
common denominator of September 11, 2001. Most of these links
have been reported elsewhere and are simply compiled here;
source credit is given to extent of my knowledge.
There's also an
inspirational PowerPoint Slideshow created over a year ago, that
some of you may find comfort in watching. And, I've included a
side tale of one of my experiences this week, that illustrates
the familiar adage, "Be careful what you wish for, you just
might get it."
All links were
checked immediately before I sent this; some sites might be
experiencing heavy traffic so try back if you miss at first.
Thanks for
spending time in The Basement this week!

While the
cowardly attacks were an American tragedy of epoch proportions,
it's important to remember that the deadliest attacks were on
the World Trade Center Towers. The innocent victims were
taken from countries, communities, families from around the
world.
For those of you
reading this now who don't live within our shores, please know
that the people of the United States are deeply appreciative of
your help, donations, prayers, and pledges of support. Our
hearts also go out to the victims' families, in over 40
countries.

This PowerPoint

to see at this time. Timely words and beautiful pictures offer
hope to the beleaguered spirit:

They Said It
"Day
is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Fading light,
dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.
Thanks and
praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.
While the light
fades from sight,
And the stars gleaming rays softly send,
To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend."
